The following standards are for the design and construction of a sand filter using a synthetic membrane-lined pit with an underdrain and attached underdrain boot. These standards are established to assure that the boot is used as designed by the manufacturer, to assure that leakage at the boot is prevented through good design and construction practice, and to allow for testing the performance of the boot installation.
